I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Harvard University. I received my Ph.D. in Sociology from Columbia University. My research focuses on group boundaries and identity.  I use quantitative and computational methods to explore the nature of group membership, mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion, and systems of classification. My work has been supported by the Russell Sage Foundation and published in the American Sociological Review, the American Journal of Sociology, and Criminology.
